Feutmba's support comes after Sundowns enjoyed a successful period under Cardoso, including winning the CAF Champions League and the MTN8. The Portuguese coach recently signed a contract extension that will keep him at Chloorkop until June 2028, reflecting the club's confidence in his leadership.
Speaking about Cardoso's achievements, Feutmba emphasised that the coach deserves recognition for the trophies he has delivered, particularly the Champions League title, which had been a major objective for the club.
“Cardoso deserves it. I can certainly say that we achieved a lot. By winning the Champions League, he just won the MTN8 trophy. A trophy we have been looking for so long,” Feutmba said.
He added: “So, we have to give him credit. We have to give him credit.”
Feutmba acknowledged that Cardoso faced challenges when he first arrived, particularly as the team adjusted to his tactical ideas and approach to the game. However, he believes the coach's achievements demonstrate the value of allowing him time to implement his plans.
Although Sundowns failed to win the league title last season, their continental success and recent cup triumphs have strengthened Cardoso's position. Feutmba also highlighted the contribution of the wider technical team and everyone involved in the club's operations, stressing that sustained success requires a collective effort.
The former midfielder believes Cardoso deserves continued support from the club's management and supporters as he works towards further achievements.
Sundowns will now aim to maintain their momentum across domestic and continental competitions. With expectations remaining high at Chloorkop, Cardoso faces the challenge of building on his recent successes while pursuing more silverware.
For Feutmba, the message is clear: the coach's achievements should be recognised, and his contribution to Sundowns' recent success should not be overlooked.
