South African football tactician James Madidilane has secured a new managerial opportunity after officially joining Botswana Premier League club Nico United, opening another chapter in his coaching career.

The development was initially reported by Soccer Laduma before the Botswana club confirmed his appointment, announcing that the experienced coach would lead its technical team.

Madidilane moves to Botswana with considerable coaching experience, particularly from his previous assignments in Lesotho, where he built a reputation through impressive performances and successful campaigns.

One of his notable achievements came during his time at Bantu FC, where he guided the team to domestic league success and established himself as a promising tactician.

He subsequently took charge of Lijabatho FC, continuing his impressive managerial journey. His biggest achievement with the club came during the 2025/26 campaign, when he led the side to the Lesotho Premier League championship.

His contribution to that successful season earned him individual recognition, as he received the Coach of the Season award. The honour further enhanced his reputation and attracted interest from clubs beyond Lesotho.

Before moving into management, Madidilane enjoyed a career as a professional footballer, playing primarily as a defender. During his playing days, he represented several South African teams, including Bloemfontein Celtic, Maritzburg United and Mpumalanga Black Aces.

He also had the opportunity to represent South Africa at international level, giving him valuable experience that could benefit him in his coaching responsibilities.

His appointment at Nico United presents an opportunity to demonstrate his managerial abilities in another Southern African football environment.

The Botswana club will be hoping that his previous successes in Lesotho can translate into strong performances and improved results in the domestic competition.
