Reportedly, Happy Mashiane, a former defender for Kaizer Chiefs, has been training with Siwelele FC in Bloemfontein ahead of the upcoming season. But the defender's future is up in the air because the parties involved haven't settled their differences in negotiations. Godfrey Mosoetsa, head coach of the Siwelele, has acknowledged that Mashiane has been participating in team training, but he has stated that negotiations with Mashiane's representatives have not yet concluded.
His statements indicate that the club is still considering moving on with the former Amakhosi defender's transfer. Many South African soccer fans are keeping an eye on Mashiane's situation, especially those who experienced the Premier Soccer League during his stint with Kaizer Chiefs. The pressure was on Mashiane to win games and challenge for major domestic titles while he was a part of the Soweto giants. Should Siwelele and the club be able to come to terms, his background playing for a renowned South African club might prove to be an asset.
Siwelele sees a veteran defender's arrival as a chance to bolster the team and add competition for starting positions. Before completing the transfer, the club needs to know how Mashiane will fit into its technical strategies. Mashiane will be searching for a way to keep playing professionally and maybe get more playing time during this period. Joining Siwelele could provide him a new beginning and an opportunity to showcase his skills in a different setting. A formal signing and training with the Bloemfontein outfit are two completely different things, despite common belief to the contrary.
Uncertainty surrounds Mashiane's future until an announcement is made by the club and the negotiations are finalized. As long as Siwelele and his agents keep talking about the defender's future, we might get some answers soon. Even though negotiations are taking forever, the player—who has experience playing for Kaizer Chiefs—keeps training with the team.
