Breaking: SAFA Has Announces Venue For Bafana Bafana’s AFCON Clash Against Kenya, Check Out

The venue for Bafana Bafana's inaugural home match against Kenya in the forthcoming back-to-back qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) has been disclosed by the South African Football Association (SAFA).

South Africa is scheduled to host Kenya on Friday, November 13, 2026, and then travel to Nairobi for the reverse fixture on Tuesday, November 17, 2026. The initial match is scheduled to commence at 6 p.m., and it is anticipated that both teams will compete for critical points in their pursuit of qualification for the continental tournament.

The Orlando Amstel Arena in Johannesburg will host the opening match, which is expected to be a captivating matchup between two national teams that are vying to improve their standings in the AFCON qualifying campaign, as per the announcement.

The match will garner significant attention due to the fact that Kenya, who are currently under the guidance of former Bafana Bafana striker Benni McCarthy, will be facing their homeland for the first time since assuming the managerial role of the East African national team.

McCarthy is a well-known figure in South African football, having achieved a distinguished playing career before transitioning to management. Although his primary goal is to lead his current team to a positive outcome, his return to South Africa as Kenya's head coach will introduce an emotional element to the encounter.

The encounter will also pit McCarthy against Pitso Mosimane, who is reportedly leading Bafana Bafana in his most recent tenure as head coach. It is anticipated that the tactical conflict between the two coaches will be one of the primary topics of discussion prior to the match.

The qualifiers will be approached with confidence by South Africa, as they have made an impressive start to their campaign. Mosimane's team is currently leading Group D after winning both of their AFCON qualifying matches in September.

Bafana Bafana will need to sustain that momentum in order to qualify for the 2027 tournament. A win over Kenya on their home turf would fortify their position in the division and establish an optimal foundation for the return match in Nairobi.

Nevertheless, Kenya is anticipated to pose a competitive challenge, particularly under McCarthy's leadership. Before welcoming South Africa for the second leg, the Harambee Stars will be eager to secure a favourable result away from home.

Both teams will be required to make effective tactical decisions and manage their players carefully throughout the international window, as the two matches are scheduled just four days apart.

The Johannesburg match provides South African supporters with the opportunity to observe Bafana Bafana continue their qualification campaign on their home ground. This will be a momentous occasion for McCarthy, as he will be returning to the country where he first gained recognition as a footballer.

The teams' prospects in Group D could be significantly influenced by the two-legged contest as the competition for spots at the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations intensifies.
