Bafana Bafana youngster Relebohile Mofokeng came off the bench as Royale Union Saint-Gilloise secured a comfortable 3-0 victory over KFC Nijlen in the Belgian Cup on Sunday afternoon.
The defending champions booked their place in the Round of 16 as they continue their quest to retain the trophy, which was their only silverware last season.
Mofokeng started the match among the substitutes and was introduced in the 64th minute with neither side having found the back of the net.
His team eventually broke the deadlock five minutes after his arrival, with Raul Florucz scoring the opening goal to put the hosts ahead.
Royale Union SG maintained their momentum as Besfort Zeneli doubled their advantage in the 80th minute. Kamiel Van de Perre then completed the scoring three minutes later, sealing an emphatic victory for the Belgian side.
The result represents another positive step for the club as they balance their domestic cup ambitions with their European commitments.
Mofokeng also featured prominently in Royale Union SG's UEFA Europa League campaign last week, starting and completing the full 90 minutes in their 1-1 draw against Spanish outfit Real Sociedad.
The former Orlando Pirates winger continues to gain valuable experience as he seeks to establish himself as a regular member of the Belgian champions' squad.
Royale Union SG will now turn their attention to the Europa League, where they are scheduled to face Hapoel Be'er Sheva on Thursday, 22 October.
