Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has reportedly expressed an unusual wish ahead of Sunday's highly anticipated LaLiga encounter between FC Barcelona and Atletico Madrid, admitting that he would prefer both teams to suffer defeat.

The Portuguese tactician's comments have attracted attention ahead of the meeting between two of Spanish football's biggest rivals, with the result potentially having implications for the LaLiga title race.

Mourinho, who has a long history of competing against Barcelona and Atletico Madrid during his managerial career in Spain, is no stranger to the intense rivalry surrounding the two clubs.

During his time at Real Madrid, the former Los Blancos manager was involved in several memorable encounters against Barcelona, particularly during the period when Pep Guardiola was in charge of the Catalan giants.

His rivalry with Barcelona became one of the biggest talking points in European football, with several heated matches between the two sides attracting worldwide attention.

Although Mourinho has since moved on from his previous spell in Spanish football, his latest remarks suggest that he remains interested in the outcome of matches involving the country's leading clubs.

With Barcelona and Atletico Madrid preparing to face each other, the encounter is expected to attract considerable attention from football supporters, particularly those following the battle for positions at the top of the league table.

Mourinho's preference for both sides to lose reflects the competitive nature of Spanish football, where results involving direct rivals can have significant consequences for other clubs.

However, only one team can emerge victorious, while a draw would leave both sides sharing the points.
