South African international Relebohile Mofokeng is quickly making his mark at Royale Union Saint-Gilloise,where observers note his value goes far beyond basic statistics. The former Orlando Pirates forward has enjoyed a strong start with the Belgian club, contributing four goals and two assists across his first eleven appearances in all competitions.

His impact has proven especially vital as the team navigates a challenging stretch marked by squad changes and injuries. Union recently saw key attacking figures depart, with Promise David moving to Brighton and Hove Albion and Mohammed Fuseini transferring to Derby County. At the same time, other forwards such as Kevin Rodriguez, Ilan Hurtevent, and Mateo Biondic have spent time sidelined or faced obstacles.

Despite these setbacks, the team has maintained a remarkably strong scoring record, finding the net frequently in both league and European fixtures. Analysts credit Mofokeng with adapting quickly and helping bridge the gap. Rather than relying solely on traditional runs behind the defensive line, he provides tactical variety through his pace, technical skill, and intelligent movement.

Journalist Scott Crabbe highlighted how Mofokeng effectively connects the midfield with the final third, making the team much harder to predict in possession. During a recent match against Cercle Brugge, the forward frequently dropped deep to collect the ball from defenders, creating crucial numerical advantages in the center of the pitch. He has also combined effectively on the left flank with teammates Guilherme and Besfort Zeneli, while his well-timed runs into the penalty area consistently pull defenders out of position to create openings for others.

As Union prepares for an upcoming league fixture against SK Beveren, the club looks to keep pace near the top of the standings. For Mofokeng, the early praise highlights a mature style of play where his overall movement, vision, and link-up abilities are proving just as valuable as scoring goals.
