Kaizer Chiefs Make Final Push for Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya as AmaZulu Refuse to Negotiate

Kaizer Chiefs are reportedly preparing a final push to secure the signature of AmaZulu FC striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya ahead of the January 2027 transfer window, with the Zimbabwean international said to be keen on joining the Soweto giants.

According to reports, Chiefs remain interested in strengthening their attacking options and view Ngwenya as a potential addition to their squad for the second half of the season. However, negotiations could prove difficult, with AmaZulu reportedly unwilling to enter discussions with Chiefs and other interested clubs.

Ngwenya has reportedly set his sights on a move to Naturena, with claims that he has little interest in joining Mamelodi Sundowns despite the possibility of a move to the Tshwane-based club.

The reported preference could give Chiefs encouragement as they consider their next move, but the striker’s personal ambitions alone may not be enough to secure a transfer if AmaZulu remain unwilling to negotiate.

The Durban-based club is reportedly refusing to enter negotiations with Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates, leaving uncertainty over the striker’s future as the January transfer window approaches.

AmaZulu’s reported position could complicate efforts by the three South African football giants to secure the Zimbabwean forward, particularly if the clubs are unable to reach an agreement with his current employers.

For Kaizer Chiefs, the coming transfer window could present an opportunity to address their attacking needs and improve their competitiveness in domestic competitions. Securing a striker who is reportedly interested in joining the club would be a boost, provided the necessary transfer arrangements can be agreed upon.

However, with the January 2027 window still ahead, several factors could influence the situation, including AmaZulu’s willingness to negotiate, the player’s contractual circumstances and any formal offers made by interested clubs.

At this stage, the reported final push by Chiefs and Ngwenya’s alleged preference for Naturena have not been confirmed through an official announcement from the clubs or the player.

Supporters will be watching closely to see whether Chiefs can persuade AmaZulu to reconsider their position or whether the striker will remain in Durban beyond January.

The transfer story is likely to develop further as the window approaches and the clubs determine their respective positions.
