There have been rumors circulating that Kaizer Chiefs are in the process of negotiating a transfer for veteran South African coach Manqoba Mngqithi and another possible target, the emerging figure of Thembinkosi Lorch, both of whom would bring a wealth of experience to Naturena.Current Amakhosi supporters are very divided over the latest events, with many wondering what they mean for the future of head coach Fernando Da Cruz.

A source close to the Kaizer Chiefs camp has reportedly told Sports With Daily News that the club is considering bringing Mngqithi to Naturena, as reported on Thursday, 5 November 2026.Apparently, Kaizer Motaung Jr. has been in talks with the seasoned tactician about the club's future sporting direction, according to the report. The rumors surrounding Mngqithi's potential signing with Chiefs have garnered interest due to his vast background in South African football, even though no third party has verified the claims. The role of Fernando Da Cruz is one of the main concerns raised by the most recent rumors. The French tactician was given the task of leading Amakhosi and reviving the team so that they can compete again.Despite this, Chiefs have had their share of challenges this season, such as losing the Soweto Derby to Orlando Pirates and the CAF Confederation Cup.

Fans are putting more pressure on the technical staff as a result of these results to show more consistency and improve their performances. The most recent information indicates that the club's technical direction and Da Cruz's position could be impacted by Mngqithi's potential arrival. However, Da Cruz's departure from Kaizer Chiefs has not been confirmed by the club.Note that on October 27th, Kaizer Motaung Jr. categorically denied rumors linking Mngqithi to the Chiefs coaching job.In addition, the club has maintained its public support for Da Cruz, so fans shouldn't jump to conclusions about a coaching change just yet.Interestingly, Elias Mokwana's recruitment is also linked to Mngqithi in the latest report.Mokwana was reportedly one of the players mentioned as possible additions to Mngqithi's proposed sports plans by the publication's anonymous source. The move of Mokwana to Naturena, however, is now official.

On Wednesday, November 4, 2026, Kaizer Chiefs formally announced the signing of the 27-year-old Bafana Bafana international. After parting ways with Tunisian powerhouse Espérance Sportive de Tunis, the winger who had previously played for Sekhukhune United joined Amakhosi. He got some great Middle Eastern experience the year before while on loan at Saudi Arabian club Al-Hazem.Chiefs fans are hoping that Mokwana's arrival will give them more options up front thanks to his speed, direct running, and wide-area ability to create chances.Coach Da Cruz has previously complimented the winger on his talent and experience playing at the international level.Since Mokwana did not participate in the team's preseason, the coach explained that he would require some time to acclimate to the squad. In light of this, his signing is noteworthy regardless of the outcome of the rumored talks involving Mngqithi.Mention of Thembinkosi Lorch is probably the most interesting part of the most recent report. There has been renewed speculation that the ex-Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker may make a comeback to South African football.

There have been rumors that Lorch is having trouble registering with the Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli, casting doubt on his future with the team.Reportedly, his first-team involvement has been impacted by the club's foreign-player quota, and there have been rumors that talks about a potential mutual separation have taken place. If a deal is struck, Lorch will be able to sign with any team that wants to sign him as a free agent.Possible interest from multiple PSL clubs stems from his experience and offensive flair.Kaizer Chiefs could improve their offensive game with the addition of a player with Lorch's technical ability.

Having said that, Amakhosi has not yet officially confirmed that they have made an offer, reached a deal, or begun negotiations with the player. That being said, we should not take his potential arrival as anything more than a transfer rumor. An intriguing conversation regarding the club's aspirations has arisen due to the potential addition of Mngqithi to Chiefs, the confirmed arrival of Mokwana, and the rumors surrounding Lorch.Having previously worked with Golden Arrows and Mamelodi Sundowns, Mngqithi has extensive experience in the Betway Premiership.

Any club looking to replace their technical director would be wise to consider him because of his familiarity with the local game, tactical acumen, and background in player development.Chiefs must think through the repercussions of any big reorganization thoroughly, especially when it involves the current coaching staff and a team that is still getting used to a new football philosophy. There has been no confirmation of the Mngqithi or Lorch rumors as of yet, but Mokwana's arrival has been confirmed.
