Former Orlando Pirates favourite Patrick “Tito” Maswanganyi was spotted at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday, attending the Carling Knockout Cup quarterfinal against Sekhukhune United — and his presence has immediately intensified speculation about a possible swift return to the Buccaneers.
Maswanganyi only departed for Bahraini club Al Khaldiya on 24 August in a transfer that took many supporters by surprise. Since then, reports have emerged that the move has not gone as planned: the 28‑year‑old has featured just twice across all competitions, with off‑field matters cited as a concern. He was photographed sitting alongside his former teammates who were not part of the matchday squad, watching the action unfold from the stands.
No official statement has been issued regarding his future, but the sighting has naturally reignited hopes among Pirates fans that the door may be open for a reunion. During his time with the Sea Robbers, Maswanganyi became a key contributor, registering 120 official appearances, 28 goals, and 20 assists — form that made him a firm crowd favourite.
For now, all is unconfirmed, with clarity expected in the coming days. If this does mark the beginning of a homecoming, supporters will be eager to see their skilful dribbler back in the black and gold once again.
