Kaizer Chiefs have dismissed reports that Manqoba Mngqithi is set to join the club after leaving Tanzanian side Young Africans. Chiefs sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. responded directly to the speculation and described the reports as "completely lies."
Mngqithi's exit from Yanga set off fresh talk about where the experienced South African coach might go next. He is currently without a club, and Chiefs have not confirmed any plan to appoint him. Motaung Jr.'s response shows the club is rejecting the claims linking him to Naturena.
The rumours have surfaced at a sensitive time for Chiefs. The club has publicly backed its current coach, Fernando Da Cruz, after the team was knocked out of the CAF Confederation Cup. That support has led some to ask whether a change on the bench could be on the cards, but the club's denial suggests the reports about Mngqithi should not be treated as fact.
Mngqithi has also added to the talk himself. A few months ago, he said that someone had blocked his move to Chiefs in the past. That comment has come up again in discussions about his future since he left Yanga. It does not show that any new deal is being considered.
Mngqithi has built a strong reputation in South African football through his work at domestic clubs, so his next job is likely to draw plenty of interest while he remains available. For now, the main development is the club's denial. Chiefs have stood by Da Cruz, and Mngqithi's immediate plans are unclear. Until either side announces something concrete, the claim that he is heading to Naturena remains speculation.
