Agent Drops Major Hint on AmaZulu Star Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya’s Future
AmaZulu FC striker Thandolwenkosi Ngwenya has emerged as one of the biggest talking points in South African football following his outstanding start to the 2026/27 season, with his impressive goalscoring form attracting growing attention from clubs and supporters.
The Zimbabwean international has been in sensational form for Usuthu, establishing himself as one of the most dangerous forwards in the Betway Premiership. His performances have also raised questions about how long AmaZulu will be able to keep hold of their prized attacking asset as interest in his services continues to grow.
Ngwenya’s agent, Gibson Mahachi, has addressed the speculation surrounding the striker’s future, making it clear that there is no need to rush into a decision despite the growing interest from potential suitors.
According to Mahachi, several clubs have already made enquiries about the 23-year-old forward, which he considers a natural consequence of the player's excellent performances.
However, the agent insists that the immediate priority is for Ngwenya to remain focused on his football, continue improving and help AmaZulu achieve their objectives this season.
“Yes, many clubs are knocking on the door and asking about him, which is normal when a player is doing well,” Mahachi told FARPost.
“But we are not rushing him. We want him to keep his feet on the ground, push even harder and achieve more. The most important thing now is to keep scoring and helping AmaZulu. We will decide his future when the time is right.”
These comments suggest that although a possible move could become a subject of discussion in the future, neither the player nor his representatives intend to make a hasty decision while his career is progressing positively in Durban.
Ngwenya's importance to AmaZulu has increased considerably since the beginning of the campaign. By late October, he had scored 10 goals in 10 matches across competitions, putting himself firmly among the leading attacking players in the country.
His performances have also earned him recognition beyond club football, while his ability to find the net consistently has made him an increasingly important figure in Arthur Zwane's squad.
Nevertheless, sustaining this form will be crucial. Opposing teams are becoming increasingly aware of the threat he poses, meaning the striker must continue adapting his game to remain effective.
For AmaZulu, retaining Ngwenya would provide a major boost as they seek to maintain their competitive start to the campaign. Losing such a prolific forward could prove difficult to overcome, particularly with the club aiming to build on its recent progress.
For now, the message from his representative is clear: Ngwenya's future will be considered at the appropriate time, while his immediate responsibility remains scoring goals and helping Usuthu succeed.
With interest reportedly increasing, the coming months could prove significant in determining the next chapter of the striker's career.
