Former Kaizer Chiefs Defender Kgotso Moleko Opens Up About Lifofane FC Move

Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko has revealed that his move to Lesotho Premier League side Lifofane FC had been discussed months before he officially joined the club in June 2026.

The experienced right-back made the switch after representing Mangaung Unite in South Africa’s ABC Motsepe League, giving him an opportunity to continue his football career while bringing his experience to a new environment.

Speaking to FARPost, Moleko explained that Lifofane first approached him after he made his debut for Mangaung Unite in December 2025. At the time, he was still working towards regaining full fitness after recovering from an injury that had kept him out of action.

According to Moleko, the Lesotho club was interested in securing his services as early as January 2026. However, he decided against leaving Mangaung Unite midway through the campaign because the team was competing for the Free State ABC Motsepe League title and aiming to qualify for the national promotional playoffs.

Rather than walk away from his commitments, the former Amakhosi defender reached an agreement with Lifofane’s management to finish the season in South Africa before completing the move. The club reportedly respected his decision and waited until he had fulfilled his responsibilities with Mangaung Unite.

Although Mangaung Unite did not secure promotion, the team won the provincial championship and qualified for the national playoffs held in Mthatha in June 2026.

Lifofane, who finished second in the previous Lesotho Premier League season, subsequently signed Moleko to strengthen its defence and improve its chances of challenging for the league title.

The defender has already made a positive impression at his new club, earning the Man of the Match award after Lifofane secured an impressive 3-0 victory over Villa FC.

Moleko’s move marks another chapter in his career after his time at Kaizer Chiefs, with the experienced defender now looking to make a meaningful contribution to Lifofane’s ambitions in Lesotho.
