Former Pirates Coach to Earn R350,000 a Month at New Club

Mandla Ncikazi is reportedly set to return to Golden Arrows as head coach, following the departure of Pitso Dladla. The Durban-based club has entered a difficult period after a sharp decline in results, prompting the board to seek an experienced hand to guide the team back to winning ways.

The move marks a familiar homecoming for Ncikazi, who previously enjoyed a successful stint with the club.During the 2020–21 Premier Soccer League campaign, he played a central role in leading Golden Arrows to an impressive fourth-place finish, earning respect across the South African football landscape for his tactical organization and man-management skills. His potential return was set in motion after Orlando Pirates confirmed his departure from his role as assistant coach under Abdeslam Ouaddou, noting that he was stepping down to pursue a head coaching opportunity.

Reports surrounding his appointment suggest Ncikazi has agreed to a two-year contract worth approximately R350,000 per month. However, until Golden Arrows issue an official announcement confirming the deal, specific terms regarding contract duration and financial figures remain subject to verification.

Ncikazi is set to step into the role vacated by Pitso Dladla, who originally took over management after Manqoba Mngqithi departed for Tanzanian side Young Africans SC. Dladla initially enjoyed a stellar start to his tenure, guiding the team to six consecutive victories and securing the MTN8 trophy after overcoming major opponents, including Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns. However, that momentum faded rapidly as the club suffered a steep drop in form, culminating in a reported five-match losing streak that ultimately led management to make a coaching change.

Ncikazi’s deep understanding of the club’s culture and the domestic league gives him a distinct advantage as he steps into the pressure-filled environment. His immediate priority will be restoring confidence within the squad, stabilizing defensive structures, and establishing a consistent playing style tailored to the available personnel. While a two-year deal provides reasonable room for long-term planning, supporters and management alike will expect quick improvements as the team strives to regain its competitive edge in top-flight South African football.
