Richards Bay FC have officially terminated the contract of head coach Dimitar Pantev, bringing an end to the Bulgarian tactician's brief spell in charge of the KwaZulu-Natal-based club during the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season.

The decision represents another significant coaching development in South African football, with Richards Bay now facing the challenge of finding a suitable replacement who can help the team improve its performances and achieve its objectives for the remainder of the campaign.

Pantev was appointed with the responsibility of guiding the Natal Rich Boyz towards greater consistency and helping the club compete against some of the country's established Premier Soccer League sides. However, his time at the helm has now come to an unexpected conclusion following the club's decision to end his contract.

Although the precise reasons behind the termination have not been detailed, the development raises questions about the club's technical direction and its plans moving forward. Coaching changes are often influenced by several factors, including results, performances and the long-term vision of the club's management.

Richards Bay will now need to move quickly to establish stability within their technical department. With the Betway Premiership campaign continuing, the club cannot afford unnecessary uncertainty as preparations for upcoming fixtures remain important.

The management will be expected to identify a coach who understands the demands of South African football, can work effectively with the available squad and bring a clear playing philosophy to the team.

Meanwhile, Pantev will have to assess his next career move after his short-lived experience with the KwaZulu-Natal outfit.

His departure adds another coaching storyline to the 2026/27 Betway Premiership season, while Richards Bay supporters will be hoping the decision eventually leads to improved performances and better results.

For now, Dimitar Pantev's chapter at Richards Bay FC is officially over.
