Three Wins in a Row! Former Kaizer Chiefs Star Yeye Makes Flying Start in Botswana
Former Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana midfielder Reneilwe “Yeye” Letsholonyane has made an impressive start to his coaching career at Mochudi Centre Chiefs in Botswana, guiding the club to three consecutive victories and securing a place in the African Hero Top 8 semi-finals.
The South African tactician continued his excellent run over the weekend when Mochudi Centre Chiefs defeated Morupule Wanderers 3-1 at the National Stadium in Gaborone. The victory confirmed their progression to the last four of the knockout competition and further strengthened confidence in Letsholonyane's leadership.
Mochudi Centre Chiefs opened the scoring in the 26th minute through former Cape Town Spurs striker Mpho Kgaswane, who gave his side a deserved advantage before half-time.
The hosts maintained their momentum after the break, with Kelvin Ndebelele doubling their lead in the 70th minute. Kgaswane turned provider, delivering the assist that helped his team move closer to securing qualification.
Morupule Wanderers managed to pull a goal back, briefly threatening to make a comeback. However, Mochudi Centre Chiefs remained composed, and Argentine forward Nicolas Melgajero sealed the 3-1 victory with a goal in the 87th minute.
The result extended Letsholonyane's winning streak following consecutive victories in the Botswana Premier League. Since taking charge in September 2026, the former midfielder has brought renewed optimism to a club eager to compete for major honours.
Letsholonyane enjoyed a distinguished playing career with Kaizer Chiefs and represented Bafana Bafana, earning recognition for his intelligence and composure in midfield. He is now looking to translate that experience into coaching success.
His immediate challenge will be Wednesday's Botswana Premier League encounter against Jwaneng Galaxy, which offers another opportunity to maintain the team's momentum.
With three successive victories and a semi-final place secured, Yeye has given Mochudi Centre Chiefs supporters plenty of reasons to be optimistic about the season ahead.
