Long-Serving Pirates Coach Missing From Bench Amid Rift Rumours

Mandla Ncikazi’s Orlando Pirates Future in Doubt Amid Speculation Over Possible Rift With Ouaddou

Orlando Pirates assistant coach Mandla Ncikazi has found himself at the centre of growing speculation about his future at the club following his continued absence from the technical bench, with reports suggesting possible tensions with head coach Abdeslam Ouaddou.

Ncikazi has missed several matches this season, raising questions among supporters about his situation at the Soweto giants. Although reports have linked his absence to a possible disagreement with Ouaddou, Orlando Pirates have not confirmed any fallout between the two coaches.

The club previously explained that Ncikazi underwent knee surgery during pre-season and continued experiencing discomfort afterwards. According to the explanation, he needed additional time to recover in KwaZulu-Natal. However, recent reports have suggested that his absence could involve issues beyond his physical recovery, although no official evidence has established these claims.

Former Pirates winger Mpho Mbuyane has also contributed to the growing debate surrounding the situation. His comments have attracted attention, particularly the suggestion that where there is smoke, there could be fire. Nevertheless, such remarks represent an opinion and do not establish that a disagreement exists between the two members of the technical team.

Ncikazi joined the Pirates technical staff in 2021 and has played an important role in the club's coaching structure through different periods, including the tenure of former head coach Jose Riveiro and the current leadership of Ouaddou.

Meanwhile, speculation has emerged linking Ncikazi with a possible return to Golden Arrows, where he previously served as head coach. However, Golden Arrows have played down the reports, maintaining that Pitso Dladla remains in charge.

The uncertainty comes as Pirates continue competing in domestic and continental competitions, making stability within the technical team particularly important.

For now, supporters are waiting for clarity on Ncikazi's situation. Until Pirates or the coaches involved provide further information, reports of a rift remain unconfirmed, and no official announcement has established that Ncikazi will leave the club.
