KAIZER CHIEFS THRILLER! Wandile Duba Nets Incredible Hat-Trick to Overwhelm TS Galaxy
JOHANNESBURG, SOUTH AFRICA — 28 OCTOBER 2026
Kaizer Chiefs showcased a dominant second-half performance, defeating TS Galaxy 3-0 at FNB Stadium on Tuesday night, thanks to a remarkable hat-trick from young striker Wandile Duba, securing Amakhosi’s spot in the Carling Knockout quarter-finals.
The first half of the Round of 16 match was evenly matched, with neither team managing to score. However, Chiefs came back after halftime with renewed energy, and Duba proved to be a game-changer as he netted three goals, sealing the victory.
This impressive win was a much-needed morale boost for coach Fernando Da Cruz and his squad following their recent disappointment in the CAF Confederation Cup against the Zambian team, Red Arrows.
Duba's impact after the break
Chiefs began the match with intent, eager to assert dominance in front of their home fans. Duba tested TS Galaxy keeper Melusi Mathebula with a strong shot, while Mduduzi Shabalala and Pule Mmodi added to the home side's offensive efforts.
Despite several promising chances, Amakhosi couldn’t capitalize during the first half, as TS Galaxy held firm defensively, leading to a scoreless halftime.
The deadlock was broken in the 48th minute when Mmodi sent a low cross into the box, allowing Duba to finish and give Chiefs a 1-0 lead.
This goal lifted the spirits at FNB Stadium, boosting the hosts' confidence as Galaxy tried to respond.
Chiefs were then awarded a penalty after Shabalala was fouled in the box. Mfundo Vilakazi stepped up to take the kick, but Mathebula saved it. Duba was quick to react to the rebound, slotting the ball into the net for his second goal of the night and placing Chiefs firmly in charge of the match.
