Ouaddou Delivers Thunderous Message to All Buccaneers Players Prior to Soweto Derby

Location: Johannesburg, South Africa — Date: October 28, 2026

Coach Abdeslam Ouaddou of the Orlando Pirates has given his players a stern warning in the lead-up to Saturday's Soweto Derby against Kaizer Chiefs, saying that playing for the Buccaneers is a huge responsibility that requires their undivided attention.

Ouaddou wants his players to know that there's more to wearing the iconic black-and-white shirt than just talent as they prepare for one of the biggest matches in South African football. When they step onto the pitch, they must be prepared to fight for the club with all their might, determination, and self-control.

The Buccaneers are getting ready to take on their fierce Soweto rivals in a match that has a lot of emotional weight for fans of both teams, and the coach of the Pirates has delivered a message at a vital time.

Ouaddou Is Seeking Unwavering Devotion

When the team's duties call for 100% effort, Ouaddou has made it plain that no player will get preferential treatment. Everyone on the team, regardless of rank, reputation, or experience, should be ready to pitch in, according to his strategy.

The pressure to perform is always on Orlando Pirates because of the club's heritage and the high expectations placed on them. Especially in a match against Kaizer Chiefs, fans want to see their players show grit, tactical discipline, and resolve.

In a match where carelessness, distraction, or wasted opportunities may swiftly change the result, the coach's remarks emphasise the significance of teamwork.

Ouaddou wants his players to keep their minds on the game at hand and what it takes to represent the Soweto giants, rather than letting themselves become bogged down by problems.

Never Get Comfortable Facing Chiefs

Because of the intense competition that goes beyond the three points on the line, the Soweto Derby is unlike any other sporting event. Fans of both teams anticipate their players to play at a high level since they know how proud they are to beat their neighbours.

The ability to focus and rein in one's emotions will be crucial for pirates. The Buccaneers need to maintain both the seriousness of the occasion and the tactical rigour to carry out their strategy.

When the going gets tough, Ouaddou will also rely on his team to pull together. Because of the razor-thin margins of victory in derby matches, focus, communication, and decisive moments are crucial.

Each player has an important function to perform, and his message is a good reminder of that.

Ahead of Saturday's Match, Tensions Rise

Fans of the Pirates are hoping that their team's resolute performance against their bitter rivals would be the result of the coach's demands.

The onus is now on the players to show their dedication on the pitch. Ouaddou has made his expectations clear: to represent Orlando Pirates, one must be accountable, work hard, and battle for the badge without wavering.

The Buccaneers will get their chance to prove their ability to meet those criteria in Saturday's game.
