Mamelodi Sundowns could hand young defenders Khulumani Ndamane and Malibongwe Khoza an opportunity to strengthen their defence when they face Wiliete SC in the CAF Champions League second preliminary round this coming Sunday.

The Brazilians are preparing for another important continental assignment as they continue their pursuit of African football's biggest club prize. With defensive stability expected to play a crucial role in the encounter, the potential partnership between Ndamane and Khoza presents an interesting option for the technical team.

Both defenders have shown promising signs of their abilities, attracting attention through their performances and demonstrating that they could become important players for the club in the coming years.

Their contributions during last season's MTN8 final, which Sundowns won, further highlighted their potential and provided encouragement regarding their ability to perform under pressure in important matches.

As Masandawana balance their domestic commitments with their ambitions in Africa, developing younger players could prove beneficial. Giving Ndamane and Khoza opportunities to gain experience in continental competitions would help strengthen the squad's depth while allowing them to continue their development at a high level.

However, facing Wiliete SC will require concentration, discipline and effective communication throughout the match. Continental fixtures can be decided by small mistakes, meaning Sundowns will need their defenders to remain organised and make the right decisions in challenging situations.

Whether the two youngsters start together will ultimately depend on the technical team's assessment of their fitness, current form and tactical suitability for the encounter. Sundowns could also prefer a more experienced defensive combination given the importance of securing a positive result.

Nevertheless, Sunday's match could provide another opportunity for both players to demonstrate their readiness for greater responsibilities.

For Sundowns supporters, the possibility of seeing Ndamane and Khoza partner each other offers an exciting prospect as the club looks to build a defence capable of competing for continental honours.

The final selection remains uncertain, but a strong performance from either defender could strengthen their chances of earning more regular opportunities.
