Retired Kaizer Chiefs defender Kgotso Moleko has spoken out about the months leading up to his official June 2026 signing with Lifofane FC of the Lesotho Premier League. This move allowed the seasoned right back to continue playing football in a different setting after his time with Mangaung Unite in South Africa's ABC Motsepe League.Moleko told FARPost that after making his debut for Mangaung Unite in December 2025, Lifofane was the one who initially approached him.
He had recently returned from an injury that had sidelined him for some time, and he was still on the road to full fitness. If Moleko is to be believed, the Lesotho club had interest in signing him back in January of 2026. But he stayed with Mangaung Unite for the rest of the season since they were in the hunt for the Free State ABC Motsepe League championship and a spot in the national promotional playoffs.
The former Amakhosi defender decided to stay in South Africa to finish the season before moving on, rather than back out of his obligations, according to an agreement he made with Lifofane's management. Reportedly, the club waited for him to finish his duties with Mangaung Unite before making any moves.Mangaung Unite won the provincial title and advanced to the national playoffs in June 2026 in Mthatha, even though they did not get promoted.
To bolster its defense and increase its chances of challenging for the league title, Lifofane—which finished second in the previous Lesotho Premier League season—subsequently signed Moleko. In his first game back with the club, the defender was instrumental in Lifofane's 3-0 triumph over Villa FC, and he was named Man of the Match for his efforts.Following his stint with Kaizer Chiefs, Moleko has decided to move on to Lesotho, where the seasoned defender hopes to contribute to Lifofane's goals.
