Pirates Add Third Stripes - Black Gold Meets White Out

Orlando Pirates Unveil 2026/27 Third Kit Inspired by Soweto Heritage

Orlando Pirates have officially unveiled their 2026/27 third kit, introducing a distinctive design that celebrates the club’s rich history, deep roots in Soweto and strong connection with its supporters.

The Buccaneers revealed the new jersey on Saturday evening, adding another option to their collection following the launch of their black-and-gold home kit and predominantly white away strip. Produced in collaboration with adidas, the latest design combines modern sportswear elements with references to the community that has shaped the club since its establishment in 1937.

The new kit draws inspiration from Soweto’s landscape, with a repeating rooftop pattern serving as its most prominent feature. The design represents the homes, families and communities that have contributed to Orlando Pirates’ identity over the decades.

According to adidas, the pattern tells a story of belonging, resilience and togetherness, reflecting the values associated with the club and its passionate supporters.

The jersey features a dark base complemented by maroon, light purple, dusky orange and red accents, creating a colourful appearance while maintaining a connection to the Buccaneers’ heritage. The club’s iconic skull-and-crossbones crest remains a central feature, reinforcing its unmistakable identity.

Additional design elements include an EQT-inspired collar and a customised sign-off inside the back neckline, giving the jersey a contemporary finish.

The unveiling also came at an important moment for Orlando Pirates, following their qualification for the CAF Champions League group stages. The achievement has heightened excitement among supporters as the Soweto giants prepare for another demanding campaign on domestic and continental fronts.

The club’s decision to showcase the jersey at South Africa Fashion Week is expected to introduce the design to a wider audience, extending its appeal beyond football.

While the kit’s performances on the pitch remain to be seen, its emphasis on Soweto’s history and community highlights the significance of the club’s identity. For Orlando Pirates, the third strip represents more than a change of appearance, serving as a tribute to the people and places behind its enduring legacy.
