Kaizer Chiefs have reportedly emerged as potential destinations for experienced South African coach Manqoba Mngqithi and former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker Thembinkosi Lorch, sparking fresh debate among Amakhosi supporters about the club's plans for the future.

According to a report by Sports With Daily News on Thursday, November 5, 2026, a source close to the club claims that Kaizer Chiefs are considering bringing Mngqithi to Naturena. The report further suggests that sporting director Kaizer Motaung Jr. has held discussions with the veteran coach about the club's sporting direction.

Mngqithi's potential arrival has raised questions about the future of current head coach Fernando Da Cruz, who was appointed to rebuild the team and restore Chiefs' competitiveness. However, Amakhosi have experienced difficulties this season, including their Soweto Derby defeat against Orlando Pirates and their disappointing CAF Confederation Cup campaign.

Despite the growing speculation, Chiefs have not announced any coaching changes. Motaung Jr. also dismissed reports linking Mngqithi with the club on October 27, while the management has continued to publicly support Da Cruz. Therefore, suggestions that the Frenchman is facing an immediate departure remain unconfirmed.

Interestingly, the report also mentions Elias Mokwana as part of the possible sporting plans associated with Mngqithi. However, Chiefs officially confirmed the signing of the 27-year-old Bafana Bafana winger on November 4 after his departure from Tunisian giants Espérance Sportive de Tunis.

Meanwhile, Lorch has also been linked with a possible return to South African football amid uncertainty surrounding his situation at Libyan club Al-Ittihad Tripoli. However, there is no official confirmation that Chiefs have approached him or opened negotiations.

With Mokwana's arrival already confirmed, attention will now turn to whether Chiefs pursue further reinforcements or make changes to their technical structure as they attempt to revive their fortunes.
