Thembinkosi Lorch could be facing another sudden career turn, with reports saying he may be close to parting ways with Libyan side Al-Ittihad Tripoli.
The former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns attacker has reportedly been left out of recent league squads and is no longer a regular part of coach Faouzi Benzarti’s plans. If the club and player agree to end his contract, the 33-year-old could become a free agent in the next transfer window. But no termination has been confirmed.
iDiski Times reported on 20 October 2026 that a mutual separation is being discussed. The uncertainty follows Lorch’s move to Al-Ittihad in February, after a spell with Morocco’s Wydad Athletic Club that included a goal at the expanded FIFA Club World Cup.
Reports suggest changes to Al-Ittihad’s plans, new arrivals and limits on foreign-player registrations may have affected Lorch’s place in the squad. The full reasons remain unclear, and any agreement between the club and player is still unconfirmed.
A possible move to MAS Fès in Morocco reportedly stalled over personal terms, with the financial package said to be a sticking point. Wydad has also been mentioned as a possible destination, while interest from clubs in Egypt and Algeria has been reported but not confirmed.
Back home, speculation has linked Lorch with Kaizer Chiefs. For now, though, there is no confirmed offer or agreement. Any move would depend on his contract situation, financial expectations and which clubs are genuinely interested.
With his next step still uncertain, Lorch’s future is already prompting plenty of debate among supporters. Where do you think he should play next: South Africa, Morocco or another league?
