The South African attacker Kobamelo Kodisang is now a free agent after leaving Mamelodi Sundowns, according to football agent Mike Makaab. Kodisang can sign with any team he wants.
When a football fan wanted to know if Kodisang could choose where to continue his career, Makaab stepped in to clarify. Because of his reaction, the scenario involving the 25-year-old attacker is now much more intriguing, as his availability may pique the curiosity of other clubs.
Some clubs' fans are wondering if Kodisang will sign with the Naturena-based side, and Kaizer Chiefs have joined their ranks. The attacker's versatility makes him a potential intriguing alternative. He can play both the flank and central attacking roles.
Kodisang has also learned a lot from his time spent away from South Africa. He supposedly made 68 appearances for the Portuguese team Moreirense over the course of two seasons, scoring 14 goals and assisting on eight more. Before returning to the South African domestic arena, his time in Europe gave his career a new depth.
Kodisang may now freely evaluate his options after leaving Sundowns, free from any obligations to his former club. Clubs seeking to bolster their offensive options without incurring a transfer fee may find him especially attractive due to his position as a free agent.
Whether or not Sundowns could sway his destination decision was an open topic, particularly in light of his potential decision to stay in the Premier Soccer League. When asked explicitly if Kodisang could join any club he wanted, though, Makaab seemed to put such worries to rest.
"Indeed," Makaab responsed.
With this announcement under his belt, Kodisang can finally weigh all of the options for his future professional moves. His versatility as an attacker and his background playing in South Africa and Portugal could make him a more desirable signing.
There may be more conjecture regarding a potential move to Naturena for Kaizer Chiefs supporters after Makaab clarified. The agreement between Kodisang and the club is still pending confirmation, though.
Now that the attacker has decided whether to continue his career in South Africa or seek another opportunity elsewhere, all eyes will be on him.
