Eagles To Meet Over Unpaid AFCON Bronze Bonus
Botswana Pulls Out Of South Africa, Zimbabwe 2028 AFCON Bid

Super Eagles players are expected to meet in camp to discuss unpaid bonuses for finishing third at the last Africa Cup of Nations and a new payment plan for the 2027 AFCON qualifying campaign.

According to SCORENigeria, the meeting will be held when the team gathers for their double-header against Tanzania next month. An official told the publication that the meeting was initially planned for Russia before the team’s recent friendly, but it could not take place because only Moses Simon was among the senior players in camp.

“The meeting was supposed to be held in Russia before the friendly, but Moses Simon was the only senior player there. The boys will now meet before the home game against Tanzania,” the official said.

The source added that the players would discuss the bonus promised to them for winning bronze at the last AFCON in Morocco, as well as a proposal to pay them a qualification bonus for the 2027 tournament instead of the usual match-by-match payment. The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the National Sports Commission (NSC) have reportedly been discussing how to settle the outstanding bronze medal bonus.
