Kings lose 5-3 to Risborough Rangers after 2-0 lead

After a blistering start that saw Kings race into a two goal lead within seven minutes, the title favourites came roaring back with a five goal salvo that left Langley shellshocked.

It had all started so well for Kings when brilliant work by Edu presented B.J. Christie with a virtual tap in. With the hosts still reeling from the early opener, Christie doubled his tally with a clinical finish from Louie Collier's neat through ball to put Kings in dreamland.

Inevitably, Risborough responded with a sustained period of pressure that saw the defence regularly stretched and keeper Kurylowicz called on to make several smart saves. They still found time to mount the occasional counter attack but all too often the final pass was wayward and lacked the composure needed to capitalise on the opportunities presented.

Despite the hosts' pressure, Kings looked like holding out for the remainder of the half. However, that aspiration was emphatically shattered when Kifwasima's dipping drive reduced the arrears just before the break. That was just the platform that revitalised Risboro' needed and they continued to press relentlessly from the start of the second period.

Their endeavours were soon rewarded when Kifwasima's low driven cross was swept home by Niko Muir. Scenting victory now, the home offensive continued unabated and an almost carbon copy of the equaliser soon followed with Luke Neville, this time, the benefactor from close range.

To their credit, Kings rallied at this point and forced a number of corners, but could not gain parity and, in fact, it was Rangers who doubled their advantage when Buchanan's deft header found the bottom corner. Kings manfully attempted to retrieve the situation with subs Lowe and Patterson both making penetrating runs down the flanks but it was the hosts who completed their "Nap Hand" when yet another right wing cross was converted by Buchanan.

Kings battled to the end and were rewarded when Bruce Ovbiye's pin-point cross was efficiently headed home by Louie Collier to complete the night's scoring but it was only a consolation in an otherwise sobering night.
