‘Class Act,’ ‘I Hope (Aaron) Glenn Has Success’ — Patriots Fans Salute Jets HC for Honest Take on Drake Maye Before Week 6 Game

After a shaky start to the season, Drake Maye has found his rhythm over the past two games, giving the 3-2 New England Patriots plenty to feel good about as their young quarterback continues to develop. His recent play hasn’t gone unnoticed by the Patriots’ rivals, either.

Ahead of New England’s Week 6 matchup against the New York Jets, head coach Aaron Glenn offered an honest take on Maye that quickly caught the attention of New England fans.

Maye enters the matchup coming off an outstanding performance against the Las Vegas Raiders. He completed 26 of 34 passes for 374 yards and four touchdowns, consistently challenging the Raiders’ defense and helping New England secure the 45-17 win.

His recent success marks a sharp turnaround from the first three weeks of the season, when he threw six interceptions and posted an average passer rating of 59.7. Over his past two games, however, Maye has thrown for 643 yards and seven touchdowns while committing just one interception.

The improvement has fueled optimism among Patriots fans, and Glenn has also taken notice. The Jets coach acknowledged Maye’s progress, suggesting the quarterback’s early-season struggles were unlikely to continue.

“I go back to last year, and I look at everything he’s done. Obviously, he was up for the MVP… He’s had a couple of games where he didn’t play as well as [he’d like]. But now, you see exactly who he is. At some point, guys are gonna go back to exactly who they are,” Glenn told reporters.

“They will never stay in that rut for a long time, especially a guy of his magnitude. So, it’s something that we have to watch out for. We have to go out there and compete our (expletive) off… The way that he’s getting the ball down the field, we have to do a really good job of making sure we’re defending the deep ball,” the head honcho added.

Glenn’s candid take naturally earned appreciation from Patriots fans.

“Respect, Aaron. Class act,” one X user wrote.

“Mad respect,” another chimed in. “Great answer,” a third fan said.

Glenn’s praise is backed by Maye’s impressive 2025 campaign, when the quarterback completed 72% of his passes and threw 31 touchdowns against just eight interceptions. His performance earned him a second-place finish in the MVP voting, behind Matthew Stafford.

Some Patriots fans also appreciated Glenn’s willingness to give credit to a division rival.

“As a Patriots fan, I hope Glenn has success somehow, not more than the Pats, though lol,” one remarked.

“In my 22 years of being a Pats fan, I’ve never had beef with Jets fans or the organization,” another wrote.

Maye has completed 99 of 151 passes for 1,228 yards, eight touchdowns and seven interceptions this season. He’s also added 161 rushing yards and a rushing touchdown.

Maye now ranks No. 9 in the league with a PFN QB Impact Score of 81.9, and with two strong performances behind him, the young quarterback has room to keep improving as the season progresses.
