Michael Carrick doesn't feel like he is close to the end at Manchester United
Michael Carrick insisted he doesn't feel like he is entering his final week as Manchester United head coach, but admitted he could be powerless to avoid the sack if results don't improve against Roma and Aston Villa.
Carrick was handed a stay of execution a week ago when it appeared certain he would be sacked after the 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth. The 45-year-old is now set to be in charge until the international break, but Saturday's defeat at Chelsea means it is now nine games without a win.
It's also three defeats in a row and Carrick appears certain to be sacked during the break if he fails to find a win this week, but his side put in an improved performance at Stamford Bridge, at least in the first half
With their Champions League campaign in trouble after defeats to Atletico Madrid and Como, they need to get back on track against Roma, while they could be in the relegation zone after the weekend if results don't go their way.
But Carrick insists he doesn't feel like he is close to the end of his time in charge at Old Trafford and claimed he still feels energised and enthused by the challenge ahead.

Asked if he felt like a manager with two games left in the job, Carrick said: "No, not at all. I can't look into the future, you never know what's going to happen. I don't know what's going to happen.
"That doesn't change the way I feel. That doesn't change how we're preparing for the game tomorrow, and I'm actually really looking forward to the game. Can't wait for the game tomorrow.
"You might think I'm crazy with the results we've had and what's going on, but I genuinely, really can't wait for the game tomorrow, and that's all I'm focused on.
"Whatever happens is going to happen after that, in whatever direction it goes, but we want to make it a big night tomorrow night first."
