Anthony Gordon has spoken about his time at Newcastle months after leaving the club to join Barcelona

Former Newcastle United star Anthony Gordon has reflected on his time at St. James' Park and made an honest admission about which challenge he has enjoyed most so far in his career. Gordon left Newcastle in the summer to complete a permanent transfer to Barcelona in a deal worth £69million.

The England international had spent three-and-a-half years on Tyneside before deciding to move to Spain, helping United win their first major trophy in decades with their Carabao Cup triumph back in 2025.

Since joining Barcelona, Gordon has scored three goals and provided five assists for his new teammates across all competitions, including La Liga and the Champions League.

Gordon helped Newcastle qualify for the Champions League in his first full season with the club, and is now enjoying the challenge of competing for Europe’s biggest prize as well as the La Liga title.

The 25-year-old has reflected on his career now that he’s spent the last few months with Barcelona, and why he prefers the challenge playing at the Camp Nou presents compared to his time at his previous clubs, Newcastle and Everton.

"At Everton, I was fighting relegation for two or three years, which was tough," Gordon told Spanish publication Sport.

"At Newcastle, we were fighting for maybe Champions League and to push up the table. And now I'm fighting with Barca for every trophy."

"I've had three very different challenges as far as the teams that I've played for," Gordon added.

"I really enjoyed all three because they've come with different things. They help you as a person, help you grow.

"But I think to be competing on every front for every trophy is definitely the most enjoyable."
