WWE World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns has been working a part-time schedule since 2022, focusing mainly on major television appearances and premium live events, rather than non-televised house shows. After winning the World Heavyweight Championship from CM Punk at WrestleMania 42, Reigns indicated that he would be more active during the summer of 2026.
Since then, he has appeared on WWE programming and defended his championship against LA Knight at Money in the Bank, while also making regular TV appearances. However, he has not wrestled at a non-televised live event since October 2023. Recently, he explained his reasoning for no longer viewing those appearances as necessary.
According to the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Reigns is expected to continue his reduced WWE schedule following WrestleMania, rather than moving towards semi-retirement. This comes after The OTC suggested he might consider “about going into semi-retirement” post-WrestleMania to spend more time with his family. As previously reported, Reigns defending his title against "The Ruler" Oba Femi is a leading candidate for the main event at WrestleMania 43.
