McCann joined the club from Manchester United in the summer of 2021.
He recorded eight first team appearances under both Giovanni van Bronckhorst and Michael Beale, before departing for Forest Green Rovers in January 2023.
"Looking back on my career so far, I think I should have just stuck it out at Rangers," McCann told The Sun. "I was 20 and wanted to forge my own pathway.
"But I went from playing at Hampden in the semi-final of the Scottish Cup against Aberdeen to being in the National League in the space of 18 months. It was tough to get my head around."
McCann now plies his trade for Cheltenham in English League Two. He joined the club from Barrow in the summer and has started the season well, scoring seven goals in ten appearances.
As he reflected on his time at Rangers, the 24-year-old added, "It’s an amazing stadium and the atmosphere is bonkers. They literally live and breathe football.
"It’s not nice when you’ve got 50,000 people groaning at you when you give a pass away. But you’ve got to learn to deal with that."
