The Dallas Cowboys didn't just lose the game on Sunday, they lost a lot of support. Cowboys Nation is outright disgusted by the team's performance this season and the middle media are letting them have it.
Not only are the fans hurting, but key players are, too. In the midst of an evasive press conference, head coach Brian Schottenheimer shared injury updates on players from the Week 8 loss to the Arizona Cardinals, and it was not pretty. The teams' top three talent acquisitions all left the game to get checked out.
No. 11 overall pick, defensive back Caleb Downs is in concussion protocol, along with safety PJ Locke. The Cowboys other first-round pick, edge rusher Malachi Lawrence has perhaps the most long-term injury of the bunch with his ankle injury. Schottenheimer said that it looks like "it might be a few weeks," that Lawrence could be lost for.
Cornerback Joey Porter, Jr. was in and out of the action for a while before calling it a day due to his ankle injury. TE Jake Ferguson left the game early because of... you guessed it... an ankle injury. The head coach seems to think he may be able to practice later this week.
Schottenheimer spoke about Porter's injury and his throwing of his helmet on the sideline. "He's trying to battle through it. He's getting a bunch of tests done... we're hopeful. But as a competitor you understand why there would be frustration."
The Cowboys return to the practice field in full on Wednesday as they'll begin their work for the Week 9 battle against the Indianapolis Colts at AT&T Stadium.
