NFL fans want NFC East games banned from primetime TV slots

NFL fans have made it clear what they think about watching more NFC East games this season.

In the 2026 NFL season, the NFC East has been one of the most disappointing divisions, as the Philadelphia Eagles and Dallas Cowboys have both stumbled through eight weeks. The Washington Commanders were expected to be better than they are, while the New York Giants have found themselves at the top of the division.

With the futility of the division on full display each week, fans believe they should not be forced to watch subpar games in primetime when most of the league has delivered very entertaining matchups.

CBS Sports' Tom Fornelli posted simply on X, "On Tuesday we should be able to vote on banning NFC East games in primetime." That sentiment was shared by a number of NFL fans who felt that the division, despite its star power, does not merit such audiences.

"I have no interest to watch even a second of NFC east football," one fan responded while another added, "The NFL should relegate the entire division."

A third also noted, "As a Giants fan I agree!!" Other fans believed that while the NFC East has yet to show consistent success this season, at least they were not subjected to watching another division also known among supporters as lacking the proper fireworks for a primetime slot.

"Be careful what you wish for, you might get NFC South instead," another fan said, while a fifth fan simply wrote on X, "Better than the NFC South."

By and large, fans were split in their comments about watching the NFC East in primetime versus the NFC South. Notably, the NFC South is the only division in the NFL without a team with a winning record, with the 3-4 Carolina Panthers sitting atop the division.

Additionally, both the NFC East and NFC South are the only divisions in the league without a team with five or more wins. The Giants sit atop the division with a 4-2-1 record, thanks to a controversial tie between New York and Washington, which led head coach Dan Quinn to destroy his headset at the end of the game.

That said, fans will be treated to a number of prime-time games for the rest of the season, regardless of how the teams have performed through eight weeks.

For the rest of November, the Commanders and Giants will be on Prime Video on Nov. 12, while the Commanders will take on the Cincinnati Bengals on Monday Night Football on Nov. 23. On Thanksgiving, the Eagles play the Cowboys on FOX, which is to be expected.

In December, there are four NFC East prime-time games, starting with the Cowboys playing the Seahawks in Seattle on Monday Night Football. On Christmas Eve, the Houston Texans travel to Philadelphia to take on the Eagles.

Later that week, the Jacksonville Jaguars play the Cowboys in Dallas on Sunday Night Football, with the Giants playing the Detroit Lions the day after.

Finally, the Eagles will be at Levi's Stadium to face the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football.
