British wrestling star Benjamin Satterley, also known as Pac, died of natural causes, it has been revealed.
The All Elite Wrestling (AEW) star was discovered unconscious in a rental car on 27 September just one night after wrestling on a show for the promotion in Chicago, Illinois.
A 911 caller told authorities she found the 40-year-old ‘passed out’. Police pronounced him deceased shortly after arriving on the scene.
No cause of death was announced at the time but a spokesperson for the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has now told the California Post that ‘Pac’ passed away from bronchial asthma.
Born in Newcastle, Satterley is regarded as one of the greatest wrestling talents to emerge from these shores.
After wrestling on various independent circuits in the UK, US, Mexico and Japan, he joined WWE in 2012 under the name Aaron Neville where he reigned a cruiserweight champion.
He joined AEW in 2019, appearing at the promotion’s first ever press conference and their first All Out event the same year, remaining with them for the rest of his career.
He wrestled Andrade El Idolo for the AEW National Championship at All Out the day before his tragic death.
AEW held ‘A Tribute to Pac’ on 30 September to honour Satterley with WWE also running a special tribute package featuring a number of superstars paying their respects.
