Daniel Dubois is already looking to get back to action following his impressive second-round knockout victory over Fabio Wardley.
The rematch between these two Brits took place just six months after the first fight was deemed one of the best of the year. It saw Wardley secure two early knockdowns but then chased the finish and fell short.
By the time the 11th round came around, ‘DDD’ had imposed himself with plenty of heavy shots and turned the champion’s face into a bloody mess. The referee stepped in to stop the fight and Dubois picked up his second world title.
He then defended it with a fine display in their rematch this past weekend, dropping Wardley inside 20 seconds and then claiming the victory in round two.
Speaking to talkSPORT Boxing, promoter Frank Warren revealed Dubois will next be out early in 2027 in a big unification fight.
“He’ll fight in February. We’ve got a couple of shows coming up, we’ve a big show in Germany in the 28th November with the WBC heavyweight champion. Agit Kabayel is fighting Nelson Hysa; let’s see the outcome of that, cause that would be a great unification fight.
“Fillip Hrgovic was there on the night, who’s WBO champion. He wanted a rematch because Daniel already has a win over him. That’s the only loss on his record. There are quite a few permutations; he’ll be in big fights because he tells me he wants to earn lots of money and the only way you earn lots of money, you’ve got to be in big fights.”
Dubois beat Hrgovic back in June 2024 and was promoted to IBF champion as a result, but the Croatian has always maintained he had a terrible camp leading into that contest, so is keen to try and get his revenge.
