Patryk Klimala has helped FC Seoul become South Korean champions and could yet finish the season with the league’s Golden Boot.
The former Celtic striker has scored 16 league goals for Seoul, who secured their first championship since 2016 with five matches remaining.
Saturday’s 1-1 draw against Gangwon left them 16 points clear of nearest challengers Ulsan, ending a decade-long wait for the title.
There is plenty more in our latest Celtic news and transfers coverage.
It is a brilliant achievement for the Polish striker after a career that has taken him across the world since his departure from Glasgow. His spell at Parkhead never developed as either party would have hoped.
The Polish forward struggled to establish himself at Celtic before leaving for New York Red Bulls in 2021.
Further moves followed, but he has now found himself at the heart of a title-winning attack in Seoul.
According to Yonhap’s report on Seoul’s championship success, injury restricted Klimala to just four appearances after his arrival in 2025.
This season, he has responded with 16 goals in 30 league appearances, making him Seoul’s leading scorer.
There is still an individual prize to chase.
Klimala is level on goals with Ulsan forward Yago Cariello, although Yago currently holds the advantage in the scoring standings because he has made fewer appearances.
With five fixtures left, the former Celt has an opportunity to add the Golden Boot to his championship medal.
He has already helped end Seoul’s long wait for a league title, finishing as the competition’s leading scorer would give him another reason to celebrate.
