With Rangers’ important trip to Dens Park on the horizon, Ibrox Noise offers an official Rangers full injury update regarding the following players and where things stand.
Derek McInnes offered a small, tentative update, and we wanted to be a bit more comprehensive with a full picture of the Rangers full injury update.
So, without further ado, here are all the injuries, how long each player could be out and the prognosis.
We begin with the first one, and that was, of course, Youssef Chermiti, who is going through a massive rehabilitation following his ACL injury, which is progressing around about on schedule.
There is some slim hope that he might be back before the end of the season, but it is only that, hope.
An ACL injury is a really bad one, and even in the case of this type of injury, players might not even be able to make preseason. These can be a huge problem.
But nevertheless, he is working away and in good spirits.
All we can do is hope that he’s available for preseason next year.
As we all know, he suffered a very untimely strain and ended up out for a heck of a long time following surgery.
McInnes has suggested that December is possible for Shankland, but we’d be a little bit more realistic and say that he’d be aiming for January.
It’s unfortunately a long term injury that thankfully doesn’t rule him out for the season, but unfortunately has cost him a whole chunk of the first season of his Rangers career.
This will have killed him inside, but he’s keeping his spirits up as well.
Of all the long term injuries, this is a slightly lesser one.
There is an optimistic projection of him returning in December. It’s possible in his case, but we wouldn’t be overly optimistic about that being the case.
Unfortunately, in his case it was only a minor knock, but it required unexpected surgery.
Only a minor procedure, but enough to suggest that he could be out for a little while.
He’s been in plenty of the publicity content and promotional material, so he’s out and about, but playing football is considerably beyond him for now.
If we can get him back by December, we’d be quite pleased with that, but again, we’d probably still go more like January.
An unexpected strain here, which thankfully didn’t require surgery, but could see him still ruled out for up to two months.
This was a slightly unexpected one, and it hasn’t impacted the team too much because he wasn’t really playing that much.
But nevertheless, Devlin will be out for a while, and you don’t want to have fewer options.
We’ll hope to see him before the end of the year.
A brand new injury, taking a knock in training and being ruled out for up to a month.
As always, an unwanted thing to happen, but again, he was only squad depth and is simply quite happy to be in the Rangers shirt at all.
We would hope that he will be back by next month, but that is still in itself slightly optimistic.
You never know.
We’re going to add Tuur Rommens here.
He is back fit, training and with the squad, but he’s come back from a pretty long term injury.
He’s been unavailable basically for the whole season and has missed a lot of football.
He is nowhere near match fitness yet.
He has also got to face James Penrice ahead of him, who is probably going to keep him on the bench for some considerable time before he even gets a chance to play again.
But time will tell how Rommens gets on when he fully returns, although he is fit again.
And last but not least, a quick honourable mention for Dujon Sterling, who’s really been going through the wringer.
First of all, he picked up a minor injury in training, which thankfully didn’t rule him out.
But then he got himself ill with tonsillitis, which did rule him out.
He’s now back training and everything is A-OK with him, but this is certainly one to manage because we know his injury history.
And that’s just about all of Rangers’ injuries and issues at present.
Five definitely out, two recovering and maybe a little bit of management required there.
The Rangers full injury update remains a concern, but Derek McInnes will be hoping to welcome several important players back over the coming months.
