Stourbridge's Jobe Bellingham earns first England call-up

Jobe Bellingham, 21, has been called up to the 25-man senior squad for the first time by Three Lions coach Thomas Tuchel ahead of England's Nations League fixtures against Croatia and Spain.

Jobe, who was born in Stourbridge and is the younger brother of Real Madrid star Jude, who has also been called up for the latest squad, currently plays football in Germany for Borussia Dortmund, where he has impressed with his form in the early stages of the season.

Similar to his older brother, Jobe made his footballing breakthrough at Birmingham City before moving to the north-east, where he played an important role in Sunderland's return to the Premier League.

Discussing Jobe's inclusion in the squad, Tuchel told the FA: "(Under-21s boss) Lee Carsley has spoken highly of Jobe for weeks and months, and if there is a spot and possibility to join and make an impression in the first team.

"He had good matches, and he is on a good run of form in Dortmund, so he deserves to be with us."

The squad will meet early next week to begin their preparation for the games, with England looking to seal their place in the Nations League quarter-finals next March by finishing either first or second in the group.

England currently sit in second place in Group C and know that if they avoid defeat against Croatia, then that will be enough to secure their quarter-final place.

To finish top of the group, England would need to win both games and ensure they have a higher goal difference than Spain.
