The NFL trade deadline is closing fast, and the rumors are heating up.

Here is the latest set of rumors ahead of Sunday’s action.

The Daniel Jones trade market

Yes, you read that correctly.

There is a Daniel Jones trade market.

According to ESPN, the Indianapolis Colts have received calls from “multiple teams” regarding the veteran quarterback, who is in line to start for the Colts on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. Earlier this week it was reported that Indianapolis is waiting to see how Week 9 unfolds before completing any additional trades, even as the rest of the league believes the team will complete a mini “fire sale” after dealing guard Quenton Nelson and defensive lineman DeForest Buckner.

While Jonathan Taylor has received the bulk of attention, ESPN notes that the Baltimore Ravens were one team to “check in on Jones” before completing a trade with the Arizona Cardinals for Jacoby Brissett. Speculation centers on the Minnesota Vikings, who enter Week 9 with a 6-1 record, but have struggled on the offensive side of the football.

Jones signed a two-year, $88 million extension back in March.

He also has a $10.51 million injury guarantee for the 2027 season, that becomes fully guaranteed on March 15 provided he remains on the Colts’ roster. If the 2-6 Colts are eliminated from playoff contention, Indianapolis might sit him down to avoid exposing him to injury, putting a benching into play.

ESPN noted that if Jones wanted to play elsewhere, he could waive that guarantee.

And one wonders if the Colts’ decision to wait until after Sunday’s slate of games is — in part — leaving the door open for a team to develop a pressing need at the position due to an injury to a starting quarterback.

What about Josh Downs?

Jones is not the only player on the Colts receiving attention, as wide receiver Josh Downs already requested a trade following the deals involving Nelson and Buckner.

According to Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter, the Colts have informed teams that an offer of a fourth-round pick for the wide receiver has been submitted. Indianapolis initially requested a third-round pick for Downs, and you can expect the Colts to try and see if they can get a better offer for making a deal.

Jaguars looking for defensive playmakers

The Jacksonville Jaguars look like one of the NFL’s elite teams, coming off Thursday night’s blowout win over the Baltimore Ravens.

But the organization is looking to help on the defensive side of the football.

Jacksonville lost defensive tackle DaVon Hamilton for the rest of the season due to a torn quadriceps muscle, so adding some help along the defensive line stands out as a pressing need. And Jacksonville does have a player that could be on the block at a position of need for several teams, specifically wide receiver Brian Thomas Jr. According to ESPN, the team has received “multiple inquiries on [Thomas] in recent years while resisting all overtures.”

But with Thomas seeing less and less time on offense — he played just 19 snaps against the Ravens and did not catch a pass — this might be the time to move him. One of the teams interested in his services is the Kansas City Chiefs, who have “continued to be intrigued by Thomas,” and you could see Jacksonville try and wrestle away some defensive help from the Chiefs.

Ravens not expected to deal Derrick Henry

Despite the Baltimore Ravens’ recent struggles, the team is not expected to move running back Derrick Henry in a trade before Tuesday’s deadline.

Baltimore’s four-game losing streak, and Lamar Jackson’s thumb injury, sparked the idea that the Ravens would be sellers ahead of the deadline, and opened the door to speculation about Henry’s future with the team. But the running back himself said after Thursday night’s loss to the Jaguars that he is not “going anywhere else,” and the team so far has agreed with that assessment. ESPN noted that the Ravens are not “expected to trade” Henry, and the trade for Jacoby Brissett is one sign that Baltimore is still trying to stay in the playoff fight, rather than waving the white flag on the season.

Titans “open to offers” on Calvin Ridley

While Josh Downs is one name leading the list of available wide receivers, Calvin Ridley is another AFC South WR that could be on the move.

While the Tennessee Titans are not going to trade Tony Pollard, the team is “listening” on offers for Calvin Ridley, according to ESPN, who could be acquired in exchange for a late-round pick. As noted by ESPN the Chiefs are one team calling about wide receivers, as are the San Francisco 49ers and the Pittsburgh Steelers.

However, there is some question about whether Pittsburgh is really going to trade for a WR. Earlier this week longtime Steelers writer Gary Dulac was adamant that the team was not going to move for a receiver ahead of Tuesday’s deadline.

Will that change?

Chargers not trading any of their stars

The brutal start to the season for the Los Angeles Chargers has led to open speculation about the future of several key figures, from head coach Jim Harbaugh to offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel, as well as questions about several star players including Justin Herbert, Ladd McConkey, and Khalil Mack.

However, those questions have received “hard nos” from the Chargers in response.

Harbaugh addressed the Mack speculation earlier this week, telling reporters that “I want Khalil Mack here. Khalil Mack wants to be here.” And calls about both Herbert and McConkey have been rebuffed. While the Chargers have almost no chance at reaching the playoffs, the team “doesn’t like the message of giving up on the season,” according to ESPN.
