Ruben Amorim has once again swatted away the importance of how many defenders he will play with, while insisting Francesco Camarda is ready.
After losing their first Europa League match 2-0 at home to Benfica, there is a bit of pressure to get a positive result in Austria and correct the course. Despite this, Amorim has chosen to rotate heavily from Sunday’s draw with Sassuolo, relying on a youthful team.
Fikayo Tomori makes his first start of the campaign, while Davide Bartesaghi, Ardon Jashari, Omari Hutchinson, Alphadjo Cisse and Francesco Camarda have all been given opportunities from minute one at the Red Bull Arena.
Amorim will hope that things don’t backfire, especially against a team that haven’t lost any of their 15 competitive games this season under the new head coach Danny Röhl, even hammering their big rivals Austria Wien and Rapid Wien.
The head coach spoke to Sky not long before kick-off in Austria, and his words were relayed by MilanNews.
Lots of away fans have traveled…
“Yes, everything is always special: it’s a huge club and it’s important to win, for us and for our fans.”
Will it be a three or four-man defence?
“Nothing better for you than analysing the three-man or four-man defence. For us it doesn’t matter that much: we have to play our game.”
Did you speak specifically with Tomori?
“No, not particularly. I talk to everyone. Tomori is training well and is ready to play.”
How does Camarda feel?
“It’s normal, he’s comfortable: when you wear the AC Milan shirt, it’s always special. Camarda is ready and will make his contribution tonight.”
