The Seattle Seahawks’ elite run defense faces a major challenge ahead in the team’s upcoming matchup against the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.
According to ESPN’s Brady Henderson, the Seahawks have not allowed an opposing player to rush for 100 yards in quite some time.
“Seattle has not allowed a 100-yard rusher in 35 straight games, a franchise record and the longest active streak in the NFL,” Henderson said. “This might be the toughest test the Seahawks have faced since the streak began in Week 9 of 2024. Former Seahawk Walker leads the league in rushing, despite the Chiefs having already had their bye, and he ran for at least 117 yards in four of their five games.”
Kansas City will be a tough test for Seattle, as the Chiefs are led by former Seahawks running back Kenneth Walker III. Walker leads the NFL in rushing yards this season with 665 despite Kansas City already having completed its bye week.
Through the Chiefs’ first five games, Walker has rushed for at least 117 yards in four contests, demonstrating the consistency and production that could threaten Seattle’s impressive defensive achievement.
The Seahawks will need to maintain their discipline, close running lanes and tackle effectively to keep Walker from becoming the first opposing rusher to reach the century mark against them in 35 games.
With the streak at stake, Seattle’s ability to contain Walker could prove pivotal in determining whether its record-setting run defense continues against Kansas City.
