Despite owning the player, AC Milan will not be able to recall Zachary Athekame in January, a report from France has stated.
In just seven games, Athekame has exploded in the European football scene. Milan paid a small price to acquire him last summer and that business is looking better with each game he plays in France.
So far, he’s bagged two goals and three assists, even winning the Man of the Match award in Lyon’s game this weekend. In other words, he’s shining in Ligue 1 and with the injury situation at Milanello, there has been interest in bringing him home.
On his X today, RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins stated that Athekame would not be returning to the Rossoneri halfway through the season. It has been heavily suggested in recent days that he might, but it seems that this is not the case.
According to the report, despite the interest from the Diavolo already, he won’t be leaving, with Lyon keen to keep him for the full loan spell. This morning, reports stated that it would cost Milan to bring him back in January; now it seems that it may cost them differently.
It’s worth noting that there have been links to Diogo Dalot today; perhaps this information has played a part in that being the case…
