Newark’s Emma Dolan faces a familiar opponent as she puts her British title on the line this weekend.
Dolan (9-1) meets Watford’s Shannon Ryan (11-1), looking to regain the Commonwealth title she vacated and add Ryan’s (11-1) IBF Inter-Continental title to her collection.
The rematch comes more than two years after they met in June 2024.
“We have both improved and matured as fighters over the two years since we last fought,” said Dolan.
“I just feel I’m all wrong for Shannon (Ryan). I feel like I beat her ten times out of ten and I feel like I’m going to prove that at the weekend.”
Their fight features on the undercard of the Dalton Smith versus Alberto Puello WBC World Super-Lightweight Title clash on a Matchroom Boxing promotion at Sheffield’s Utilita Arena this Saturday and will be broadcast live on DAZN.
Their first fight at Birmingham’s BP Pulse Arena was a ‘Fight Of The Year Contender’ which saw Dolan prevail on a split-decision victory to defend her Commonwealth Super-Flyweight Title for the second time and become the first British Super-Flyweight champion.
A second-round knockdown in favour of Dolan proved vital, even though observers ringside felt her victory was closer on the scorecards than it should have been.
“I can’t believe it’s over two years since Emma Dolan boxed Shannon Ryan,” said Dolan’s manager and trainer Carl Greaves.
“Their first fight was a great fight, a great night and a great win. Hopefully, we can do it again. Both fighters have improved in that time.
“It’s going to be a tactical battle at the weekend and one I’m confident Emma can win.
“I’ve been told it’s the first time a Carl Greaves Promotions fighter has boxed for three titles on the same night which is nice little bit of history being made, with massive fights on the horizon for the winner.
“If Emma can stick to the game plan, there’s only going to be one winner.”
Dolan added: “I would like to thank my trainer/manager Carl Greaves for everything he has done to get me back into fighting on the arguably biggest stage in British boxing, Eddie Hearn and Matchroom Boxing for having me on the show, my Training Stablemates, my sparring partners, Baz Jordan, all my sponsors, all my family and friends and everybody that’s bought a ticket for Saturday night.
“I could not do any of this without their invaluable support.
“I’m used to boxing on the big TV shows now. There are about 100 people travelling over to Sheffield to support me. I can’t wait.
“It’s going to be an Emma Dolan win on Saturday night.”
