Rangers’ 2-2 draw with Dundee at Dens Park on Saturday (17 October) night was fraught with frustration for Derek McInnes’ side, as a seven-game winning run came to a premature halt.
However, amidst the disappointment of dropping two vital Premiership points, the fixture marked a major personal achievement for right-back Dujon Sterling. The defender stepped onto the pitch to make his 100th appearance in a Rangers shirt since arriving at Ibrox in the summer of 2023.
Reaching a century of appearances puts Sterling in remarkably exclusive company within the current Rangers squad. Following extensive squad turnover over recent transfer windows, only two other current Rangers players have achieved 100 or more senior appearances for the Ibrox club: Nicolas Raskin (156) and John Souttar (132).

To mark the achievement, Rangers’ official Instagram handle shared a commemorative graphic celebrating Sterling’s 100th outing for the Light Blues. The post quickly drew approval from the Gers dressing room, past and present, notably including former Ibrox teammate Jack Butland, who was among those to ‘like’ and show support for the versatile defender.
Former Rangers midfielder Mohamed Diomande also joined in acknowledging the milestone, while current teammates, including captain Lawrence Shankland, Nicolas Raskin, Emmanuel Fernandez, Djeidi Gassama, and Minsu Kim, were quick to show their backing.
| Player | Total Appearances For Rangers |
| Nicolas Raskin | 156 |
| John Souttar | 132 |
| Dujon Sterling | 100 |
| Djeidi Gassama | 70 |
| Ross McCausland | 67 |
| Emmanuel Fernandez | 48 |
| Youssef Chermiti | 44 |
| Findlay Curtis | 41 |
The size of the squad overhauls in the last two summer transfer windows means that McInnes possesses a young squad at his disposal. The next in line to reach the 100-appearance milestone is Djeidi Gassama (70), who arrived from Sheffield Wednesday last year.
While Ross McCausland (67) is only three behind Gassama, the Northern Ireland international has been left on the fringes of McInnes’ squad this term. The likes of Emmanuel Fernandez (48) and Youssef Chermiti (44), meanwhile, are still a long way away from a century.
While the result at Dens Park was far from ideal, Sterling’s consistency and versatility across a century of games continue to make him a valued figure among both former and current Ibrox peers.
