“No Consultation” – Celtic Trust Raise Major Concerns Ahead of AGM

The Celtic Trust have called for a review of Celtic’s security operations as part of their second proposed resolution for the club’s upcoming AGM.

The Trust say the aim is to improve the match-day experience and create a better process for dealing with incidents involving supporters. They also argue that Celtic fans should be involved in safety and security planning.

In their update, the Trust wrote: “The focus of this resolution is to begin a process of improving the match-day experience for all Celtic fans.”

In their latest update, the group raised concerns over access arrangements at away grounds, increased ticket checks and barriers around the rail-seating section at Celtic Park, the use of kettling by police at a Glasgow derby, and what they describe as concerns over the culture and priorities within Celtic’s security department.

One of the main points raised by the Trust is that, while Celtic are not directly responsible for security arrangements at away matches, they argue the club still has influence in discussions involving host clubs and police.

The group say supporters currently have no proper voice in those conversations.

They added: “We believe Celtic fans should be at the centre of that review.”

The Trust also highlighted changes around the rail-seating section at Celtic Park, where they say supporters have seen more ticket checks, barriers and security measures.

They accept that overcrowding and migration into the North Curve are issues Celtic need to manage, but argue that changes were brought in without enough consultation with the fans affected.

The London Road kettling incident before the March 2025 Glasgow derby is also central to the Trust’s argument.

The Trust cite that incident as part of their case for fans having a formal role in safety planning.

The resolution calls for elected supporter representatives to be involved in future discussions around match-day safety and security.

The Trust argue that any Fan Advisory Board should be properly democratic, with supporters able to elect those who represent them.

They are now asking Celtic shareholders to sign the requisition form so the resolution can be moved and discussed at the AGM.
