Erne Gaels and Derrygonnelly ready to collide again
Erne Gaels’ forward Dan McCann and Derrygonnelly’s Gareth McGovern will go toe-to-toe again in Sunday’s Brewster Park showpiece.

PACE, pace, pace.

It is the trademark of Erne Gaels, whose explosive speed and athleticism have been central to their success.

They will need every ounce of that speed when they face Derrygonnelly, one of the county’s top sides in today’s final, in a clash that promises intensity and attacking quality in abundance.

Moving ball at speed

Much of Erne Gaels’ success has been built on their athleticism across the field, spearheaded by the lightning-fast Kelm brothers.

Oisín, who can operate at either half-back or half-forward, brings immense pace and power, helping Erne Gaels transition quickly from defence into attack.

Further up the field, Ultán comes into his own. With his explosive acceleration and trademark drop of the shoulder, he has the ability to leave opponents trailing in his wake.

The youngest of the Kelm brothers, Aogán, is equally sharp, with his movement and turn of pace proving a nightmare for defenders throughout the championship.

Tommy McCaffrey and Dan McCann add further firepower to the Erne Gaels attack, with both possessing the pace and power to trouble any defence when they hit top form.

However, their opponents, Derrygonnelly, are far from short of speed themselves.

Niall Maguire, Gareth McGovern, Ronan McHugh and Oisín Smyth provide the Harps with a pacy platform, offering the ability to launch attacks and get their runners into dangerous spots.

Further up the field, Shane McGullion and Leigh Jones will look to drive directly at the Erne Gaels defence, using their movement and attacking threat to create openings.

Their contributions could prove crucial if Sean Flanagan’s side are to come out on the right side of the contest in Enniskillen.

With both teams boasting plenty of pace, athleticism and attacking quality, the battle could be decided by which side makes best use of its speed while maintaining composure in possession.

Neither will want to give the other room to run, and the team that wins those key battles across the field could gain a vital edge.

Buckle up. This one promises to be electric.
