And the Armagh All-Ireland winner of 2002 admitted to feeling a bit of pressure coming into a team that had already won two county titles in a row under Declan Bonner.
"This win did take a bit of the pressure off us as somebody asked me when I took the job if I was mad.
"They said if we don't back it up with a win, we would probably get the blame.
"So there was a bit of pressure, but the minute I met the players, the whole thing was player led and they are such a coachable group.
"Today was our best display, but I think there is a few more levels in this team.
"We probably gave the Harps about 0-7 from turnovers and that is something to tidy up in the next few weeks.
"Ultan Kelm was phenomenal in both defence and attack as he tracked back very well also.
"Dan McCann could have had two goals but for two great saves from Harps keeper Jack Kelly.
"Jack McCann and Eamon Og Magee also had great games but the whole team showed they are top notch.
"Our defensive work set the pattern for the match."
"But this is an exceptional group of players who consistently drive each other on in training and it bore fruit today.
"They are all very close with no egos and it is all about the team.
"And with a positive attitude like that, it makes our job so much easier.
"But they still have serious ambition and want to improve on their displays in last year's Ulster Club Championship.
"The ambition is still burning brightly and they are very determined to move it up a notch.
"We will have two great nights and then it is back to training on Tuesday."
