Germany legend Oliver Kahn has told Julian Nagelsmann to avoid the Manchester United job. He is understood to be one of the favourites to takeover from Michael Carrick.
The current Red Devils manager will be in charge for this weekend's clash against Bournemouth, but that has not stopped the rumours about potential candidates from appearing. Nagelsmann and Aston Villa manager Unai Emery are believed to be the two favourites for the United position.
The former is a free agent having left his position as manager of Germany after they were knocked out of the World Cup round of 32 by Paraguay in shocking fashion. But as the links continue to appear, Kahn believes Nagelsmann should think twice before moving to Old Trafford.
He said: "From his point of view, it's not an easy situation. He isn't someone with a great deal of experience, particularly when it comes to foreign teams."

On the RTL/Sky Germany show Triple - der Hagedorn Fußballtalk, Kahn added: "The Premier League and Manchester United have not been known for much continuity in the managerial position in recent years.
"He has to ask himself, 'What is my next step? Does it have to be the right one? Or do I immediately associate it with an enormous risk like Manchester United, where essentially every manager in recent years has failed sooner or later?'

"You should look very carefully at where you're going. Bayern Munich and the national team were already big blows for him. You have to think carefully, 'Where do my strengths lie? Which club can I really help?'
"I think Julian is someone who can develop a club and a team and take them further. Whether Manchester United are the right next step for that is something only he can know."
United have pursued the experienced path while also appointing former players and young promising managers, with nothing proving successful to date.

With a Premier League proven boss now seeming an essential criterion, Emery is arguably the strongest match for United's needs. Antonio Conte also boasts considerable managerial experience in England, but the former Napoli chief issued a statement.
The ex-Tottenham and Chelsea has hit out at "unfounded" reports that he has been making demands to clubs with it made clear that "no negotiations at an advanced stage".
