Joel Faglier had a rough first round at UFC Fight Night 291. But it wasn't about how he started, but rather how he finished.

In a heavyweight prelim bout, Faglier (7-0 MMA, 1-0 UFC) finished fellow promotional debutant Javad Mahjoub (5-1 MMA, 0-1 UFC) with punches at the 2:11 mark of Round 2. The event took place at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada.

Faglier was nearly finished in Round 1 as Mahjoub swarmed him on multiple occasions. However, Faglier hung tough and Mahjoub gassed badly. It made for a role-reversal in Round 2, as Mahjoub quickly became a sitting duck for Faglier's attack.

After the fight, Faglier dedicated the win to his son, Joel Jr., who died in August 2025.
